Summary of ASCE YMF Events from 2025-2026

Jan. Monthly Program (1/13/2026)

We welcomed the new year with an inspiring gathering centered on giving back through engineering expertise. After enjoying drinks and delicious food, attendees listened to Sarah—a professional engineer with 26 years of experience—share her meaningful volunteer work at Senegal. Her story highlighted how volunteering broadened her worldview, introduced her to new cultures and design methods, and even helped her learn bits of different languages. She encouraged all engineers, especially those new to the field, to explore volunteer opportunities and discover the deep satisfaction that comes from contributing to community projects.

ASCE YMF & Section Holiday Party (12/16/25)

Our recent holiday celebration brought together Engineering professionals for an evening of connection, appreciation, and festive fun. With great food, refreshing drinks, and a warm atmosphere, the event provided the perfect setting for professionals to strengthen relationships and exchange ideas. We also recognized our dedicated sponsors and seasonal pass holders, whose support continues to make our programming possible. A lively trivia competition added an interactive twist to the celebration, promoting teamwork and friendly engagement among engineers. Thank you to everyone who joined us. We are excited for another year filled with innovation, networking, and community‑driven events.

Nov. Monthly Program (11/19/2025)

ASCE SD YMF began its monthly program series with an inspiring talk by Dr. Amin Azimi, President of the ASCE San Diego Section and Project Manager at Michael Baker International. From the moment the session began, attendees were engaged by his thoughtful insights into stress management and the realities of the engineering profession.

Through relatable case studies and honest reflection, Dr. Amin Azimi, explained the different types of stress young engineers encounter—from project deadlines to communication challenges—and offered practical ways to approach them with confidence. The discussion sparked meaningful conversations and left participants feeling supported and motivated. This event marked a strong and energizing start to the year, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
