He has over 10 years of experience providing geotechnical consulting services on a wide variety of projects including utilities, public works, and schools. A project highlight includes managing the geotechnical and materials testing program for the Angola Liquid Natural Gas Plant in Soyo, Angola. He currently works as a Project Manager for VO Engineering. He enjoys tennis and surfing in his spare time.
Bruce Urquhart, PLS email@example.com Teaches: Survey Mr. Urquhart has over 37 years of experience in the land surveying and management disciplines. Until December, 2015 he was the Division Director for the Division of Land Surveys, Caltrans District 11, San Diego. For the past 24 years, Mr. Urquhart has also been an adjunct professor at San Diego State University, teaching Surveying for Civil Engineers. For the past ten years, he has also taught review classes for the surveying portion of the Professional Engineer Exam for the American Society for Civil Engineers, Younger Member Forum (YMF).
Mr. Urquhart earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from San Diego State University in 1978 and joined Caltrans that same year as a student assistant. The following year he transferred to Surveys, and has spent the rest of his career as a working member of a survey crew; Party Chief; Field Surveys Supervisor; and, in 2006, was promoted to Division Director. In December, 2015, Mr. Urquhart retired from Caltrans after a 37 year career spent entirely in the Surveys Divison. He still maintains his connection with the surveying profession teaching at SDSU.
